Maa te matatau, ka tau te whiringa

3 - 5 October 2007
Te Papa Tongarewa, Museum of New Zealand, Wellington

Awareness of innovations and new ways of thinking about nursing and nursing education inform choices about future directions of our profession. This conference will provide an opportunity for nurses from both the academic sector and clinical practice and from Australasia and beyond to gather to explore developments in educational practice. Three broad themes have been established for the conference that will help to focus our conversations. These themes are:

Tena Kotou, ni sa bula, malo Lelei, Kia orange, Fakalofa atu, greetings.

Te Manu e kai ana I te miro - nõna te ngãhere.
Engari te manu e kai ana I te mãtauranga - nõna tea o.
The bird that eats of the miro berry, owns the forest
But the bird that eats of education, owns the world.

Welcome to the website for the 13th Australasian Nurse Educators Conference. The Nursing Centre’s of Learning at Whitireia Community Polytechnic are proud to host this year’s conference.

We are excited to have the opportunity to host our international and local delegates in New Zealand’s beautiful capital city, Wellington. Our intention is to provide a forum where academic and clinical nursing educators can enter into meaningful conversations, share knowing, reignite established connections and build new relationships. In setting the culture for the conference, the organising committee have drawn on one of Whitireia’s core values, namely the concept of Manaaki. This term refers to encouraging and sharing of views, learning and resources, where individual self-esteem (mana) and group harmony result from caring about and supporting one another. We are committed to provide an environment that strikes a balance between the focus on scholarship and providing you with the opportunity to have some fun exploring Wellington, New Zealand’s most vibrant city.

I join with the organising committee in warmly welcoming you to this exciting conference, and look forward to meeting you in October.
